Selecting a Template

Visual Customizer has enhanced templates for the LearnDash course, lesson, topic and quiz listings. Templates add or completely change how these elements look.

You select a template through the WordPress customizer much like any other customizations you’d like to make to LearnDash. You can find the template settings by going to

Appearance > Customize > LearnDash Styling > Templates & Themes

Feel free to explore and find which best fits you. Here is a brief description of each available template:

Default LearnDash

The default LearnDash template, nothing is changed.

Enhanced LearnDash (Legacy Only)

This has the same look, feel and structure as the default LearnDash elements but you can add additional information for your lessons and topics like:

  • The content type (presentation, text, video, audio, etc…)
  • Estimated duration of lesson / topic
  • A short description

Note this option is only available when using the legacy theme as the LD30 theme doesn’t need a special template to take advantage of these features.

Expanded Style (Legacy + LD30)

This is a completely different display of the LearnDash elements that looks more like a timeline. Like the Enhanced LearnDash template it supports additional information like:

  • The content type (presentation, text, video, audio, etc…)
  • Estimated duration of lesson / topic
  • A short description

Grid (Legacy + LD30)

Stacked (LD30 only)
